Lexus is known for its high-end cars. But now, the luxury automaker is taking its first foray into the business of yachts.
The company held the world premiere of its flagship luxury yacht, the 65-foot Lexus LY 650, in Boca Raton, Florida, in September. The sleek watercraft is based on a concept first shown in January 2017, according to the company’s press release.
While renderings of the yacht’s design were made available last year, the Boca Raton debut marked the first time a finished model has been made public. It also appeared at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, which kicked off on October 30 (the same day sales launched for the LY 650).
In a press statement, Marquis Yachts (which builds the LY 650 line of yachts) announced that the yacht will have a starting cost of $3.74 million, with a fully-optioned model offered for $4.85 million. So far, four units have already been sold.
Here's a closer look at the LY 650.

The yacht's hull, developed with Wisconsin-based Marquis Yachts, combines carbon fiber-reinforced plastic and glass fiber-reinforced plastic to keep it lightweight and fast — it promises up to 31.4 knots.
The yacht's design has clearly evolved somewhat since earlier renderings of its initial concept.
